Choosing sellers and listings

Kakobuy wrote down more buying advice than most people notice. It is scattered across a disclaimer, a 1688 guide and a policy. Here it is in one place.

SITES

How to choose a Spreadsheet site worth using

A catalogue of finds is only as useful as its upkeep. Four checks take a minute each:

  1. Dead links. Open five product links from different categories. If more than one lands on a removed listing, nobody is maintaining it.
  2. Dates. Look for a visible “last checked” date on prices and policies. A page quoting Kakobuy’s 180 days of storage, or a 22-euro EU threshold, is reading old copy.
  3. Sources. When a site states a rule, can you open the agent’s own wording? This index gives an article number for every rule for that reason.
  4. Categories match pictures. A watch card showing a wall clock, or a perfume card showing a T-shirt, tells you the catalogue was assembled without looking.

Apply the same checks to this site. If you find a dead link or an article number that no longer matches, write to the address in the footer.

How to choose a seller, by Kakobuy’s own rules

Help 48, the disclaimer, is the only place Kakobuy gives seller advice in concrete terms: choose a well-reputed store with “more than three hearts” that has paid the Taobao guarantee. Low-credit sellers without one risk false delivery, no delivery and no after-sales, and those losses are yours.

Help 90 adds the 1688 version: check the minimum quantity and what the seller offers, choose good credit, compare sellers, and agree return terms in advance, including who pays return shipping. Help 86 explains a common surprise: a listing can show stock that the seller does not have, and Kakobuy goes by the seller’s real inventory.

Three signals help beyond that: shop age, buyer photos that match the listing, and a seller who answers a size question before you buy. For custom items, help 48 asks you to confirm details with the seller and pass the seller’s contact to Kakobuy support.

How to choose a product listing before you pay

Most problems that reach after-sales start as a listing that was not read closely. Before you order:

  • Write the size and colour in the remarks. The inspector checks against “the final comment or last amendment on your order” (help 76).
  • On 1688, read the price ladder. Unit price and shipping change with quantity, and an order below the minimum is invalid (help 90). Kakobuy counts boxes, not pieces.
  • Expect colour to differ. Help 40 says products are affected by lighting and screens and that colour should be judged on the real item.
  • Check for sensitive contents. Essential oils, batteries, glue and similar items are removed before shipping (help 48).
  • Price in the shortfall risk. If the seller raises the price, you pay the difference (help 83).

Before you order: the rules that end accounts

Help 125, created in October 2024 and unchanged since, is Kakobuy’s anti-counterfeiting policy. It prohibits buying counterfeit or pirated goods and anything that infringes intellectual property. The stated consequences are not small: orders declined, accounts and related accounts suspended or closed, inventory disposed of at your expense, and payments withheld. If in doubt, it tells you to ask the seller for authenticity records such as invoices.

The registration protocol (help 40) lists more that Kakobuy will not buy: prescription medicine, tobacco, lottery tickets, adult magazines and DVDs. Help 44 explains why customs looks hardest at exactly these goods. And help 21 keeps parcels personal: under 10 kg, without many identical items.

Avoid the trap of reading a catalogue as permission. A product page anywhere is a link to a seller, and the rules above still apply to what you order.
